7 Day Fishing Forcast

Dropping the river flow because of the reduced inflow. The next 7 days highs in upper 90's with slight chance of showers. The fishing is very good, mostly nymph's. With full sun should produced some midge fishing, in the side channels. The water temp is about 51. The dry fly fishing has picked up with the decrease flows.

Fly Fishing Techniquest and Tips

Slow water nymphing is the best choice right now. Weight (3/0) below 9' leaders and indicators. Dry fly fishing is best done from down stream from the fish, presenting the fly as a dead drift. Nymph fishing below indicators with 9′-3X leaders (Orvis Superstrong # KM0714-61) 3/0 seem to be the right weight. Orvis’ Helios Rod with it’s strong backbone, is really handling these bigger fish very well. I prefer the Helios 6 weight. (ZG Helios 906-4 Tip 9.5)

Client Story:

George and Christine Fieldings are from New York City.  On a recent visit to Forrester’s Bighorn River Resort they landed some very big fish on a midge pattern.  Fishing was excellent all week and was best if you were fishing between Noon and dark.

An Annual Hunt

Susan and her pals comes every year to hunt
We love having them here too. -Nick.

“Mayo and I have come to the Bighorn for four years now, and for the last three years, we have arrived at the lodge to find the same convergence of fun repeat guests who hail from all over the country.  We’ve become good friends, and will even be meeting up for some quail hunting in Georgia this winter.  The group has a good mix of men and women.  Some of us women hunt, some walk with the hunters, and some stay in and enjoy the peace and quiet of the lodge.  We’re a little raucous at cocktail hour which we enjoy. With the terrific bird hunting and excellent food at Forrester’s, we have a great vacation every time.” – Susan.
